Fiber technician

A fiber optic technician, is responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining fiber optic cables and equipment used for high-speed internet, telephone, and cable television services. They are skilled in splicing fiber optic cables, installing connectors and other equipment, and troubleshooting problems with the network. Fiber technicians may also be responsible for performing maintenance on the network, including cleaning and repairing equipment and replacing damaged cables. They must have a strong understanding of fiber optic technology and the ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams. Good communication and problem-solving skills are also important for this job.

Shop is in Sugar Grove, job sites range across northern Illinois, some travel possible. We work 5 days per week in all reasonable weather conditions.

Union scale base, with the opportunity to exceed scale depending on experience and performance

We are IBEW 196. Full benefits and pension after 60 days

Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening

Local help only, no per diem or hotels provided unless work is outside of our regional area
